What's new in this release
- Silent installation and configuration improvements: CTOC 3.1 implements support for keys that prompt administrators or users to shutdown Outlook before installing CTOC, and display the progress, success or failure of an installation.
- POP3 server support: Users can configure POP3 support in order to download and save mail items locally and access these items without connecting to the network.
- Multiple mail delivery attempts: Users can configure the number and time interval between mail delivery attempts.
- SSL/TLS support over IMAP4 and SMTP: SSL 2.0/3.0 and TLS 1.0 ensure the security and reliability of your data and Internet communications.
- Disable CorporateTime Server, IMAP4 and STMP connections: Users can establish connections to any combinations of CorporateTime Server, IMAP4 and SMTP servers.
- Manipulate off-line data for unavailable servers: Users can manipulate CorporateTime and IMAP4 data for unavailable servers.
- Skip a server connection at log in: Users can log in without connecting to an available server.
- Prompt before synchronizing on exit: Users can configure CTOC to display a prompt before automatically synchronizing folders on exit.
- Skip a folder during synchronization: During synchronization, users can skip folders they do not want to synchronize.
- Download address books off-line: Users can select and download only the address book entries they need.
View message MIME source: Users can view the message MIME source of any e-mail messages they receive. Show all private and public IMAP4 folders on a server: Without subscribing to individual folders, users can choose to display the complete folder tree of public and private folders. Display CorporateTime address lists using different formats: Users can now choose to display names in the CTOC Address Book, To: field of Calendar meetings, user fields of off-line Address Books, and the To:, Cc: and Bcc: fields of e-mail messages using the John C. Doe, Doe John C. and Doe, John C name formats. SMS reminder preservation: SMS reminders remain intact when a user edits meetings using CTOC. Configurable SMS reminders are planned for a future release.
Features added in CTOC 3.0
Limitations, caveats and known problems with this release
- Resetting your .OST file may cause you to lose folder context information such as your Inbox folder rules. After resetting your .OST file, verify that your folder rules are intact by following these steps: Inbox | Tools | Rules Wizard. In the Apply rules in the following order box, verify your folder rules. To modify your rules, click Modify and follow the instructions.
- iCal attachments are not automatically sent to non-CorporateTime users when a Meeting is sent from another users Calendar, or if a recurring Meeting is sent. To workaround this problem, use Forward as iCalendar. (#00897) (#00559)
- CTOC does not allow a user to change the attributes of a single instance of a recurring Meeting they do not own. (#00904)
- When the Refresh this Folder command is used in another users Inbox folder, entries that have been accepted or declined using another client will not be removed from view. To workaround this problem, close and re-open the window. (#00912)
- Meetings that have been accepted or declined using the Respond to all by Accepting while working off-line will not change colour to reflect the Busy status. To workaround this problem, connect to the server and upload your off-line changes. (#00917)
- When a recurring Meeting is deleted or an attendee is removed from an entire series of recurring Meetings, CorporateTime Server does not correctly update the view in CTOC. To workaround this problem, reset the folder. (#00530)
- CTOC does not support the Transport Neutral Encapsulation Format (TNEF) included in e-mail messages or WINMAIL.DAT attachments sent by Microsoft e-mail clients. To workaround this problem, delete the WINMAIL.DAT file.
- Forwarding of non-e-mail items, using right-click menu options, is not supported. To workaround this problem, forward Contacts or Appointments as a vCard or iCalendar attachments respectively i.e (Contact | Actions | Forward as VCard or Forward as iCalendar). (#00517)
- If a folder was deleted using an older IMAP4 client, the folder will not be unsubscribed from view. Attempting to open the item in Outlook will result in an object not found message. (#00561)
- Using CorporateTime to modify a recurring meeting created in Outlook with CTOC will result in recurring meeting rule errors. (#00395)
- User names and e-mail addresses must be specified when using the Outlook Rules Wizard, so that rules are applied to both calendar and mail items. Names and e-mail addresses must be separated with semi-semicolons0520)
- Folder names are case insensitive. (#00321)
- Non-CorporateTime users may receive e-mail meeting notifications although meeting or resource conflicts may exist. This may occur if you enable automatic iCal messaging, and schedule meetings while working off-line. (#00345)
- A copy of an e-mail message will remain in its original location if the message is moved immediately after using the reply feature. To resolve this problem, close the e-mail message before moving the message. (#00266)
- CTOC does not support the creation of recurring meetings on the 29th or 30th day of the month. (#00257)
- Recurring Day Events cannot be changed to single Day Events if the change causes resource or scheduling conflict. To resolve this problem, delete the recurring Day Event before creating the single Day Event. (#00265)
- Single Day Events cannot be changed to recurring Day Events if the change causes resource or scheduling conflict. To resolve this problem, delete the single Day Event before creating a recurring Day Event. (#00271)
- Public folders are not available for off-line use. To work off-line with the contents of a public folder, you must copy the contents of a public folder to a private folder, and then enable the private folder for off-line use. (#00322)
- Birthdays or Anniversaries cannot be added to a Contact while working off-line. To resolve this problem, add the Birthday or Anniversary to your Contact while working on-line. (#00309)
- CorporateTime Outlook Connector does not recognize Macintosh attachments containing a resource fork. (#00248)
- Custom folder views using the Group By option are not supported, and will be displayed empty. Workaround: Set Group by field to none. (#00299)
- To avoid IMAP4 and POP3 protocol conflicts, do not set up Exchange service provider and CorporateTime Outlook Connector in the same profile, if they are configured to connect to the same e-mail server.
- Signed e-mail, Digital IDs or Certificates are not supported. (#00505)
Resolved limitations since 3.1.1

- When using CTOC with Critical Path InScribe Messaging Server, public folders are not visible unless they contain at least one subfolder. (#01013)
- CTOC does not allow a user to log in to an SMTP server using the AUTH PLAIN mechanism. (#01012)
- The product version is unclear in the About CorporateTime Outlook Connector box. (#01010)

- CTOC does not identify itself correctly to calendar servers of version 5.2. (#00985)
- Outgoing mail items may remain stuck in your Outbox folder if you use your designate rights to accept or decline a meeting invitation for a resource. (#00967)
- When a mail containing an attachment that is forwarded from a .pst folder is saved as a draft, CTOC reports an error. (#00609)
- Replies to e-mail are not saved in the same folder as the original mail when replying from a .pst folder, even when this option is set. (#00532)
Resolved limitations since 3.1
- Opening a calendar containing large numbers of Meeting recurrences and exceptions may require long wait times. (#00937)
- Composing, replying or forwarding large plain text messages may truncate or delete the messages if multiple Saves or Auto-Saves were performed before sending the message. (#00619)
- Although an e-mail item was successfully sent and appears in the Sent Items folder, it may also appear in the Outbox folder of users running Windows 95 or 98. (#00925)
- Copies of private folders may appear in the public folders bank if CTOC was configured with Netscape Messaging Server 4.15. (#00935)
- Meeting organizers may appear in the CorporateTime Appointment Form as the Organizer and as a Required Attendee with the response set to None. (#00939)
- Using File | New | Mail Message to open a new message from an existing message form will result in an application error. (#00924)
- Modifications to small size attachments that are included in a Forward or Reply will not be saved. (#00919)
- Enabling SSL with an IMAP4 server supporting TLS will result in an application error if CTOC attempts to reestablish a lost server connection. (#00944)
- Replying to, or forwarding a message using another IMAP4 e-mail client that did not specify a date will include 12/31/90 as the reply date. (#00884)
- Replying to an e-mail message from a public folder will successfully sent the item. The message will appear in the Outbox and not in the Sent Items folder. (#00933)
- Replying to a Meeting may duplicate and send the meeting with the user appearing as the meeting owner. The meeting invitation is sent without notifying the user.
Resolved limitations since 3.0
- Opening and saving an attachment does not save changes to the e-mail message. (#00842)
- Designates who are granted full designate rights using CTOC cannot view their grantors' agenda in the native client without resetting the native client's access rights. (#00847)
- E-mail messages may appear with unintelligible text if the message is opened at the moment when a new e-mail pop-up notification appears. (#00891)
