CorporateTime Outlook Connector (CTOC) is a calendaring and e-mail messaging system that allows users to connect to CorporateTime Server through the Microsoft Outlook interface. To complement the calendar server and provide the messaging features of Outlook, customers may use their choice of IMAP4 e-mail servers. Users get a familiar, integrated interface with added real-time calendaring, and administrators get the security, reliability, and multi-platform support of the CorporateTime solution.
CTOC does not precisely mimic Outlook with Exchange in either Internet Mail Only mode or Corporate/Workgroup mode. Instead, users get a mixture of the most popular features from both, along with the advantages of Steltor's own time-management communications technology. With each release, the list of supported Outlook features grows.
Testers who have provided us with valuable feedback on earlier versions of CTOC will be very pleased with the progress we have made towards incorporating their suggestions and eliminating their concerns, especially in the areas of performance and stability.
Installation
Support for interactive silent installations
Interactive installation features provide system administrators with improved status and progress monitoring during silent installs. System administrators can better control the installation and identify any irregularities that may occur during the process.
Enable POP3 server support
When users connect to a POP3 server, their mail items are download and saved locally. Users can then access their mail items without connecting to the network. Administrators benefit from lower disk space and network requirements, and simple installation.
Stability
Configure multiple mail delivery attempts
Multiple mail delivery attempts allow users to configure CTOC to exhaust a maximum number of mail delivery attempts before generating a non-delivery report. In addition, users can specify a time interval between delivery attempts. CTOC saves user time and simplifies the process of re-sending undelivered mail.
Security
SSL/TLS support over IMAP4 and SMTP
Secure Socket Layer (SSL) 2.0/3.0 and Transport Layer Security (TLS) 1.0 ensure the security and reliability of data and Internet communications. Protocol independent, SSL 2.0/3.0 and TLS 1.0 are fully extensible and interoperable with current and next generation security protocols. Prior to transmitting or receiving any data, client/server communications are authenticated and then encrypted. In addition, while sending or receiving information, messages and Internet connections are secured to ensure the reliability and integrity of all data.
Availability
Manipulate off-line data for unavailable servers
Users can work with CorporateTime and IMAP4 data off-line without establishing a network connection. The benefits include uninterrupted information access for mobile users and the ability to access off-line data despite a lost or disabled server connection. Other advantages include the time savings of working off-line without logging on to the network.
Disable CorporateTime Server, IMAP4 and SMTP connections
Users can enable or disable connections to any combination of CorporateTime Server, Internet Message Access Protocol (IMAP4) and Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) servers. With improved management of their server connections, users benefit if they do not yet have a CorporateTime account, use another IMAP4 service provider, lose a SMTP server connection, or choose to implement POP3 server support.
Skip a CorporateTime Server, IMAP4 and SMTP connection on sign-in
At sign-in, users can skip a connection to an available server with one click. This feature allows users to continue working if they do not need a server connection, intend to work off-line, anticipate the loss of a server connection, or do not yet have a server account.
Usability
Quickly accept or decline Meetings
With one click users can accept or decline Meetings in their Inbox or Calendar folder without responding to a prompt. The advantages include the time saving and convenience of responding to single or multiple Meetings without receiving a dialog prompt. Now users can accept multiple Meetings in the time it takes to accept a single Meeting.
Prompt before synchronizing on exit
Users can configure CTOC to display a prompt before automatically synchronizing off-line folders on exit. The advantages include the flexibility of choosing to synchronize on a session-by-session basis and the convenience of synchronizing large amounts of data when sufficient time is available.
Skip folders during synchronization
During synchronization, users can skip folders containing large amounts of data. Users save time, synchronize only the folders they need, and have more control over the contents of their off-line folders.
Download Address Books entries off-line
Users can select and download specific user and resource Address Book entries off-line. Off-line downloads now automatically include phone numbers, extensions and meeting attendees. The advantages include accessing user and resource information to create entries off-line.
Distinct views of public and private folders
With automatic labeling of folder types and a distinct ordering of public and private folders, Inbox views are better organized and easier to manage. Users can better distinguish between public and private folders, and quickly locate folders.
More choice of Access Control List (ACL) UIDs
User can now choose to enter a first name and last name initial, an e-mail address or a user's first and last name separated with spaces when searching for, and adding users to an ACL list. Users have more flexibility using alternate UID display names, which makes sharing IMAP4 folders much simpler.
Other features
View Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions (MIME) source
Viewing the MIME source provides users with the MIME version, content type, ID, description and transfer-encoding of their e-mail messages. Users and system administrators now have sufficient information to identify the cause of any irregularities associated with their e-mail messages.
View all private and public IMAP4 folders
With a simple menu command, users can display the entire tree of private and public folders. Without individually subscribing to IMAP4 folders, users can instantly view and work with a complete list of their folders.
Clear deleted messages
IMAP4 users who delete messages from their Outlook Inbox can instantly clear copies of these messages from a secondary e-mail client. The benefits include a much cleaner Inbox that corresponds with messages in the primary Outlook Inbox.
CorporateTime Addresses using different formats
Users can choose to display CorporateTime addresses using their choice of name formats. These include: John C. Doe, Doe John C. and Doe, John C. Selected display formats will appear in the CTOC Address Book, To: field of Calendar meetings, user fields of off-line Address Books, and the To:, Cc: and Bcc: fields of e-mail messages. This option increases user name recognition by allowing users to select their name format of choice.
Reset command
The reset command overwrites off-line folders with the contents of server folders. Unlike synchronizing, the reset command does not verify and synchronize the most recent off-line folders changes with the server. The advantages include the ability work with copies of the most recent and available server information.
SMS reminder preservation
Users can receive SMS reminders independently of their desktop reminders. SMS and pop-up reminders are now separate user settings that let users disable pop-up reminders and still receive wireless reminders. Disabling pop-up reminders will not prevent users from receiving SMS meeting reminders.
Administration page enhancements
With the latest Inbox administration enhancements, users can choose to clear all locally cached data and delete local and server off-line files. The integrity of CTOC information is even more reliable due to increased user control over the storage and subsequent behavior of cached and off-line folder information.
