Wireless network plug-ins

The Wireless Data Server core includes a plug-in that connects to the wireless network through Data Circuit-terminating Equipment (DCE). To connect to the wireless network in a different way, download and install the appropriate plug-in available on the Steltor Web site. Other plug-ins support connections through the Short Message Peer to Peer (SMPP) protocol and the Universal Computer Protocol (UCP).

SNMP subagent

Wireless Data Server can also be monitored through Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) clients. For details on installing the Wireless Data Server SNMP subagent, see its readme.

Installing smsnotify

  1. Create an sms directory on the same level as your calendar server's unison directory. This directory is referred to hereafter as <smsdir>.
For example, if your calendar server is installed in /users/unison, substitute /users/sms for <smsdir> in the following steps. Similarly, if your calendar server is installed in C:\users\unison, substitute C:\users\sms instead.
  2. Extract the contents of the smsnotify package to <smsdir>.
  3. If your calendar server runs on a Solaris platform, add <smsdir> to the LD_LIBRARY_PATH variable. Ensure that the LD_LIBRARY_PATH variable also contains your calendar server installation directory.
  4. If your calendar server runs on an HP-UX platform, add <smsdir> to the SHLIB_PATH variable. Ensure that the SHLIB_PATH variable also contains your calendar server installation directory.

Configuring your calendar server

  1. Stop the calendar server.
  2. Modify the following values in your calendar server's unison.ini file:
Table 1: Calendar server configuration parameters for smsnotify
    Section Parameter Value
    [NOTIFY] sms TRUE
    [CWS] noreqsleep 5

    smsnotifyprogram Windows:
    • <smsdir>\smsnotify.exe

    Solaris or HP-UX:
    • <smsdir>/smsnotify

    Other UNIX:
    • <smsdir>/smsnotify.pl

    smsnotifyprogramparam "-host <WDShostname>"

  3. Restart the calendar server.
