Wireless Data Server core

smsnotify
For calendar notifications and reminders, you must install the
smsnotifyutility. Please see thesmsnotifyreadme for installation instructions.Wireless network plug-ins
The Wireless Data Server core includes a plug-in that connects to the wireless network through Data Circuit-terminating Equipment (DCE). To connect to the wireless network in a different way, install the appropriate plug-in. A different plug-in supports connections through the Short Message Peer to Peer (SMPP) protocol.
System requirements
- One of the following calendar servers:
- One of the following connections to the wireless network:

- One of the following operating systems:
- 64 MB RAM or greater
- 100 MB disk space or greater
NOTE: These base requirements are subject to change depending on deployment.
What's new in this release
Wireless Data Server 2.5 offers fully configurable output formats and delivery of non-calendar content. See the Wireless Data Server Administrator's Guide for details.
Configurable output formats
Use Wireless Data Server's XSL stylesheets to configure your reminders and notifications exactly the way you want them, for both Instant Messaging and plain-text SMS delivery.
Non-calendar content
Wireless Data Server can accept and deliver content in XML and plain-text formats from any source, format the content according to specified stylesheets, and deliver the final message via Instant Messaging and SMS.
Limitation, caveats, and known problems with this release
HP-UX file descriptors
Due to a limitation in the HP-UX 10.20 operating system, Wireless Data Server cannot set the maximum number of file descriptors. Ensure that this number is set to the maximum (at least 1024).
