Introduction

CorporateTime Server is scalable calendaring software, based on open standards, for efficiently scheduling people and resources. Among other features, it offers multiple time zone support, directory server connectors, a distributed database, UTF-8 encoding, e-mail notification, real-time lookups, free-time searches, multi-platform support and an extensible Authentication, Compression and Encryption (ACE) framework for enhanced security.

CorporateTime Server is the back end to an integrated suite of calendaring and scheduling products. Networked users can use a desktop client (Windows, Macintosh, Motif), Web client or Microsoft Outlook to manage their calendars. Mobile users can synchronize their agendas with a variety of PDAs or, with the addition of Wireless Data Server, can send and receive calendar entries using a mobile phone. Oracle's Mobile Edition also gives your users full calendar access from their WAP- and i-Mode-enabled handsets.

Open standards and a modular architecture ensure that the server will integrate well with existing environments, while support for Internet mail and calendaring standards allows users without calendar accounts to be notified of meetings and events. Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) integration allows the calendar server to share user information with other servers.

CorporateTime Server 5.4 is available in one of two configurations: using either an internal directory or an external LDAP directory server. Support for LDAP is offered for a variety of solutions from different vendors through separate connectors. See the system requirements below for details.

This Administrator's Guide documents deployment, configuration and maintenance procedures for your calendar server.
